With tax season upon us, it's time to file your taxes, and lets face it, filing your taxes can be taxing. In case you didn't know, most students are eligible for a free tax filing at a tax clinic. The Canadian revenue agency (CRA) offers a variety of tax clinic options at various locations across Canada. If you choose to go to one, make sure you pay attention to all the documents and materials they need you to come with since it varies from person to person depending on your circumstances e.g. if you have scholarships, grants or bursaries.
Keep in mind some University's and Colleges offer free tax clinics through their student clubs or the student union, like the U of A, Macewan university, U of T, Western University, U of C, UTM, Queens, UWinnipeg, UVic, VIU, VU, Mount Royal and UWO just to name a few. So make sure you check with them if you would rather do it on campus. Alternatively, if you are interested in volunteering at a tax clinic, you can register to volunteer with the CRA, this is a great way to give back to your community, or if you are a current or former business student, it's a great way to get experience and expand your network.
