In last week's blog, we talked about some extra measures we can take while doing spring cleaning in support of the recent renewed focus on hygiene, social distancing and trying to stay healthy. This week we continue that discussion.
Deep clean counters, tables and flat surfaces
A lot of dirt and bacteria can build up on tables, counter tops and various flat surfaces because of all the items they come into contact with. Whether it's food, grocery bags, clothes, books, dishes, people's hands etc. these are all items that can carry dirt and bacteria. There are various disinfectant and cleaning wipes that you can use, but make sure you do not damage the surface in the process.
Reorganize and clean cupboards and cabinets
Cupboards and cabinets are the perfect breeding ground for dust and bacteria. The best way to make sure you clean them thoroughly is by emptying them and reorganizing the items in them. Make sure you pay attention to the surface of the cupboards and cabinets and you use the proper cleaning materials and solutions, so you don’t damage them in the process.
Clean and disinfect sinks and bathtubs
As obvious as this may sound, it is very important to do a thorough job of cleaning the sinks and bathtub. Believe it or not, most bacteria found in most households is in the sink and the bathtubs. This is mainly because this is where you do a lot of the cleaning of dirty items.
Clean air vents and fans
Cleaning the air vents can be tricky, so you may need to hire a professional to do this for you, so you clean it properly and don’t damage it in the process. If you have ceiling fans and portable fans, make sure you clean them too. If your vents or fans have dust and dirt building up on them, you can easily end up inhaling these and this can cause respiratory issues.
Flip and rotate your mattress
You should probably do this once every season or maybe every three months. If you can’t remember the last time you did this, then maybe it’s time to do it.
Clean towels and linens
If your body is coming into contact with dirty towels and linens, then it defeats the purpose of cleaning up or showering in the first place. Make sure you clean your towels and linens on a regular basis to prevent the spread of bacteria.
Clean and disinfect the toilet
We don’t think we need to explain this one, but we just thought we would remind you anyways. Do it!
Wash your hands
Once you’ve done all this cleaning, make sure you wash your hands. Rinse your hands in water, wash your hands in soap for at least 20 seconds, rinse your hands thoroughly and then dry your hands.
Hopefully these tips will help you stay happy, safe and healthy during these times. If you have any other ideas, please comment below, contact us or comment on our social media.
