I recently had a conversation with one of the group members who was curious about rental rates in the city and we ended up talking about at what point he should consider buying instead of renting. This is not an easy question to answer and it depends on each person's individual circumstances. In the process of trying to help him and answer some of his questions I found this handy rent or buy calculator on the Government of Canada website. Take a look when you get a chance, it may not make the decision for you, but it will at least let you know what questions you should be asking.
