Normal Wear and Tear Versus Damage

Some people may wonder what the difference between wear and tear and damage is. Damage is a change in the property caused by something the tenant did, for example, if you spilled something, made a hole in the wall or damaged the flooring or carpets. Wear and tear is how the condition and state of a place changes over time just as things age and are used, for example, when paint fades, pipes may deteriorate or electrical components wear out. Tenants are responsible for damage while landlords are responsible for wear and tear. In this week’s blog we wanted to over some things tenants can do to prevent damage to the property.

How to Spot Scams and Fake or Fraudulent Postings

At RentWhiz we take safety and security very seriously, so we do everything we can to make sure our community is a safe space and a safe place. In this week's blog we wanted to discuss various ways to identify postings that may be scams, fake or fraudulent. If you ever needed to read one of our blogs to the very end, this is probably the one. If you ever notice a posting that meets any of the criteria below, please flag it and report it as soon as possible so we can protect other people in the community. We will then block these individuals from all our groups and report them to Facebook, so they cannot cause any more harm. We also recommend reporting it to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre (CAFC).
